Client Needs:

Renewables Forward recognized the need for a comprehensive DEI framework, resource library, assessment tools, and adoption toolkit tailored specifically for the clean energy sector. They sought to provide organizations within the industry with the guidance and resources needed to take meaningful action toward greater diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Solution Provided by Culture Shift Team (CST):

Culture Shift Team partnered with Renewables Forward to develop the Pathway Forward DEI Framework, a comprehensive resource designed to assist organizations within the clean energy industry in advancing DEI. Working closely with the Renewables Forward DEI Work Group, CST facilitated the development of the framework, which identified six key levers for advancing DEI, with each lever consisting of four corresponding elements.

Key Components of the Pathway Forward DEI Framework:

  1. Lever Identification: The framework identifies six key levers for advancing DEI within the clean energy industry, providing organizations with a clear roadmap for action.

  2. Element Definition: Each lever is accompanied by four corresponding elements, defining specific areas of focus and action for organizations to address.

  3. Stages of Growth: In the self-assessment tool, each element is defined across five stages of growth, from exploration to transformation, allowing organizations to track their progress and evolution in DEI efforts.

  4. Measurement and Assessment Tools: The self-assessment helps organizations identify current state of DEI maturity and helps the organization establish priorities and action steps.

  5. Resource Library: The framework includes a resource library containing tools, examples, evidence-based approaches, and specific recommended action steps for each element of the DEI framework, providing organizations with practical guidance and support.

  6. Adoption Toolkit: To assist organizations in implementing the framework, an adoption toolkit offers guidance on how to effectively integrate DEI principles into organizational practices, policies, and culture.

Impact and Outcomes:

The Pathway Forward DEI Framework has empowered organizations within the clean energy industry to take proactive steps toward greater diversity, equity, and inclusion. By providing a comprehensive roadmap, resources, and tools, Renewables Forward and its partners have facilitated meaningful action and progress within the industry. Organizations are now better equipped to evaluate their practices, take action, measure impacts and outcomes, and make tangible progress toward creating more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplaces and systems.

Conclusion:

Through the collaborative efforts of Renewables Forward, its partners, and Culture Shift Team Inc, the Pathway Forward DEI Framework stands as a beacon of progress and commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the clean energy sector. By providing organizations with the guidance, resources, and support needed to drive meaningful change, the framework represents a significant step forward in building a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive future for the clean energy industry and the communities it serves.
